Within the about 24 months construction period allowed for not very much.
As agreed with Lloyd’s underwriters, the only potential for a significant / delay is if the ship carrying the two main 3,800kw propulsors sinks during their delivery voyage from Europe. These units are custom made, only for Raffles, and replacement would take about 14 months, even allowing for air freighting them (each about 200m2, 100 tons).
To help minimise this risk the propulsors will be ordered for delivery well before they are actually needed for installation thus providing a margin of 2 to 4 months. This means that with air freight the maximum delay is reduced to about 8 to 10 months.
Even in this situation Raffles design is such that construction can continue and the vessel can be fully completed (except for the propulsors) and all main systems tested.
It then only requires 10 to 15 days to install the propulsors (with Raffles afloat) and about 20 days to carry out sea / acceptance trials.
