ART OF TRAVEL

An apartment in every port

what owners get

At 25,000 tons displacement (about 45,000 CGT) and over 230 meters long, Raffles is about the same size as P&O’s smaller “Love Boat” cruise ships that carried over a 1,000 passengers and needed nearly 600 crew to look after them. Innovative design features and modern technology mean, however, that Raffles is safely operated by a crew of less than 100. Most importantly the operating cost, while providing a degree of reliability not achieved in any other modern ship, is very low - about 1/2 to 1/3 those of physically similar vessels and about half per (two occupants) as a 59ft Grand Banks production yacht!

Located only on its 4.5 upper decks, which start at 10 meters above the water, the 112 “standard” apartments are each 120m2 (1,230ft2), with typically a large lounge / dining room, full size kitchen, 1 – 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a hall. In addition, separately, 15m2 long-term dry, refrigerated and wine storage is provided for each apartment, included in the purchase price. All apartments have 3m clear high ceilings and all face out to sea across a 10m x 1.8m wide teak planked verandah, accessed through full width / length windows. The 10 “penthouses” available, range in size from 260m2 to 410m2 (4,370ft2).

If visiting family and friends (only) are too many to be accommodated in the owners own penthouse/ apartment, there are 12 spacious, 35/45m2 cabins available for a small charge to the owner. Guests can eat in the owners apartment or use either the ships casual bistro (indoor / outdoor) or its formal restaurant.

Raffles offers more space per individual to play and relax than almost any cruise liner or mega yacht. With 12,000m2 (125,000m2) of teak planked upper decks, 25m long swimming pool, vast one-of-a kind marina, air conditioned lounge, library, games areas, etc., owners need never be at a loss for leisure pursuits.

For those that want to work aboard Raffles there is an onboard bank with direct encrypted satellite communication to Isle of Man, a full equipped and staffed business centre and post office. And every penthouse / apartment has internet over satellite connection and satellite telephone enabling first class communication from the ship’s location, wherever it may be.

To compliment the finest homes afloat, Raffles’ build quality provides levels of safety, fire prevention / detection and life saving that are massively in excess of current and planned International Maritime Organisation (IMO) or Isle of Man / British Government legislation.

Supporting all this luxury Raffles’ equipment, the systems, facilities and materials used, provide levels of safety, fire prevention and detection and life saving that are massively in excess of current and planned International Maritime Organization (IMO) or Isle of Man / British Governments legislation. Thus making Raffles if not the safest vessel ever, certainly one of the safest vessels afloat today.
